Tal vez podamos considerar Spotify como la evolución de la industria discográfica. Que sellos discográficos como EMI, Warner, Sony o Universal hayan dado un paso adelante y adopten una postura coherente en esta guerra, resulta cuanto menos esperanzador en un panorama que cada vez se tinta de un color más oscuro para los usuarios de Internet.
La batalla se tilda cruenta y cada vez parece más inminente que un control férreo por parte de los Estados sobre Internet se va a producir. Todo apunta a que la ley de los “avisos y cortes” se va a imponer, solo es cuestión de tiempo que entre recursos y votaciones se acabe de cortar las alas a una de las banderas de Internet, la libertad para compartir.
Esta semana se ha presentado Spotify para la plataforma Android y sus creadores, prometen pronto que la versión para iPhone vera la luz. Pero, ¿conseguirán pasar el filtro de Apple? Yo no lo tengo tan claro, y es que a mi entender entra en claro conflicto con la iTunes Store de Apple, esa tienda que tanto protagonismo están dando para la versión 3.0 de su sistema operativo.
Cada vez resulta más evidente que el formato físico de la música (no solo de la música, me temo, pero vamos a centrarnos en ella durante esta ocasión) está herido de muerte. Con el auge de los reproductores Mp3 y la evolución exponencial de las conexiones a Internet, poseer un disco físico, ya sea en Cd o Vinilo resulta un acto de mero coleccionismo.
Para seguir con esta exposición de ideas debemos asumir un echo, realizar un disco cuesta tiempo, esfuerzo y dinero. Pretender no pagar nada por ello resulta un claro acto de oportunismo y aunque nos podamos escudar tras un argumento valido, todos sabemos que no es justo. No pretendo defender las actitudes del bando contrario, la industria musical, esta debe comprender que el negocio ha cambiado y como tal debe adaptarse o morir. No puede seguir manteniendo los margenes de beneficios actuales.
iTunes resultó un giro en las tornas, pagar 0,99 Euros por canción ó 10 Euros por disco resulta (para mi al menos) un precio mucho más coherente. Con una filosofía como esta, el artista cubre gastos (con algo de margen, claro está) y si eres interesante para el publico, darás conciertos cobrando una entrada.
Spotify represento otro soplo de aire fresco, grandes compañías se juntan para ofrecer su catalogo en un programa que aprovecha las bondades del P2P ¿paradójico no? Tienes tu publicidad insertada entre canciones y si quieres evitarla, pasas por caja.
Apple tiene su propia plataforma y todos sabemos las posturas tiránicas que tiene a veces cuando algo entra en conflicto con sus intereses. Las cosas son así y podemos aceptarlas o rechazarlas, en el fondo somos libres para ello. Aunque una revolución como la que esta suponiendo Spotify, seria un tremendo error por parte de Apple si se posicionara en contra de ella.
Espero que pronto se porte la plataforma para el iPhone, ya que con las actuales conexiones móviles que disfrutamos y las que están por venir, auguran un claro cambio en la forma de entender la industria musical.
